KABI Business Incubator 612 Building

Burdinola was responsible for equipping the different laboratories and research areas in the Kabi 612 building with a total floor area of 4,500 m2, providing services to the vast majority of companies located in the Zamudio Technology Park. The park is currently part of the Basque Country's technology park network, which covers a surface area of 213 hectares and 223 companies.

The project

The Bizkaia Science and Technology Park has a new platform for creating new innovative companies: KABI 612.

The new infrastructure has the capacity to host around 30 projects simultaneously, focusing on innovative business projects that can make use of KABI 612 for a maximum of 6 years, with the exception of biotechnology, nanotechnology and microtechnology projects, which will be able to extend their stay.

The total floor area is approximately 10,000 m2, distributed over three floors. Two thirds of the floor area is used to house an area for companies in the biotechnology sector, specifically laboratories, and another area for new technology-based companies in other sectors.

This building holds one of the most important international awards for energy efficiency and sustainability, LEED Silver certification. The certification provided by the Green Building Certification Institute consists of a set of standards on using sustainability strategies for buildings of all types. It is based on incorporating aspects in construction projects related, among others, to: energy efficiency, using alternative energies, improving the quality of the indoor environment, efficient water consumption, developing the plot's open spaces in a sustainable way and selecting materials. Burdinola contributed to the achievement of this LEED Silver certification thanks to its facilities.
