The project
CIC energigune is the research centre for electrochemical and thermal energy storage, a strategic initiative of the Basque Government. CIC energigune was created in 2011 with the aim of providing excellent research into materials and systems for energy storage, maximising the impact on results for the Basque business fabric, through collaboration with universities, research centres and companies.
It is currently considered one of the top 3 leading centres in Europe, thanks to the positioning of its lines of research, its research team and its advanced characterisation platforms, testing and prototyping infrastructure, which make it the leading laboratory in southern Europe.
CIC Energigune has a total capacity of 140 work areas, of which 125 are for researchers of various different nationalities (currently there are 14 working there), the lab planning and equipment of which Burdinola has taken care of in its entirety. Burdinola was responsible for installing all of the laboratories, in accordance with the specifications defined by each area manager, and taking the needs of the spaces in each type of laboratory and the needs of the people who carry out their activities and work in them into account.
